I’m a gossip fiend on top of being completely obsessive when it comes to fashion. So when there’s fashion gossip, I go bonkers. I mean I get almost as excited as I would if Ryan Reynolds was standing on my door step (a girl can dream). A couple of days ago Sir Elton John turned the big 6-0, and in celebration he had a giant bash at Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. It was super rainy, but that didn’t keep tons of a-listers and not so a-listers from heading out to party with the original divo. Unfortunately the rain caused a little bit of a commotion when Donatella Versace arrived and slipped while going up the stairs. Poor girlie her dress was so pretty-ish and the stupid rain tripped her. This sort of reminded me of last nights The Hills when Whitney fell down the stairs on Good Morning America. It’s all good though because both of them dusted off the dirt/water and embarrassment and got up with grace and poise. Being a super clumsy person, this makes me really proud of them because I know how it feels to fall down and up stairs.
Also look at Teri Hatchers face in the background. It’s totally priceless. That’s the face I would make if I saw A. Wintz aka Anna Wintour.

I doubt you could tell from my past posts, but I’m a shoe whore. My only problem is I’m very particular about what shoes I buy, so many times I end up buying no shoes. There are those rare occasions where I see a pair of shoes and I know I need them so bad I would, trade my first born for them. A while ago I saw one of those devastatingly gorgeous shoes. I honestly fell in love, and when I say in love I mean if I could find a way, I might marry them or maybe just
buy them and wear them when I get married. This girl Hanna Beth (right) was wearing them in this article in Paper Magazine which I actually didn’t buy, but totally should have. They are white patent leather Marc Jacobs shoes except at the time I didn’t know who made them. I’ve been searching forever and ever to find these shoes. When I say searching, I mean to the point of stalking. MySpace Livejournal, Buzznet, you name it, I checked it. Finally I figured out they were Marc Jacobs, but then realized they are from his Fall 2006 line. After a little disappointment, I decided I still loved them. The ones on the Marc Jacobs website (top left) aren’t the exact ones she’s wearing, but they are pretty similar and still amazingly cute.
I also really like these Marc by Marc Jacobs silver peep-toe pumps. They are completely eye catching and remind me of the doodles I do in Chem class (hearts and stars are totally my expertise). I also have a thing for zippers and buckles on shoes. Zippers sort of make me feel all rebellious only not really, and buckles are sort of “I’m such a good little school girl” except I barely pay attention in class. The only down side to both these shoes is unfortunately they are both super expensive. I can’t honestly bring myself to pay almost $400 for a pair of shoes no matter how unbelievably darling they may be. I think I’ll have to wait until I either find a rich husband or become rich myself. Either way I’m going to need a whole lot more money in the bank than I have now.

I know I have terrible road rage and have joked about running into things on purpose, but never have I been in an accident on purpose. But apparently, a couple of crazy thieves in Sydney like crashing vehicles into store windows. Early Monday morning in Australia, some fools crashed a stolen car into the store window of the Gucci Boutique on Castlereagh Street. They stole thousands of dollars worth of Gucci goodies and then skedaddled sans the car. This is completely amusing to me. Just imagining someone running through a store window makes me smile a bit. It’s almost like something out of the movies. Another thing that is fairly amusing in a terrible kind of way is there have been multiple robberies of couture boutiques on this street. Recently the Louis Vuitton and the David Jones shops where robbed by people wielding sledgehammers. I think these stores need to take a page from the stores in Detroit and get bullet proof glass. That may not stop cars from running through them, but it will keep people from breaking the windows with sledgehammers. I can see it now; Australia’s Stupidest Criminals: a couple of fool robbers take a sledge hammer to some store window and instead of breaking the window the hammer comes flying back at them. I may in fact have a sick sense of humor. I love idiot criminals!
154.3 cheers for vintage and handmade one of a kind clothing! I love knowing I’m the only one with something. I think it’s that catty female side of me coming out. I got really huffy one time because I saw a girl on the train with my exact same coat. It didn’t help that she was sitting right in front of me. Fortunately, this problem can be easily solved by buying some extra adorable goodies (for not a lot of green) from SeamSewSwell. This is almost perfect because I don’t have very much cash at the moment and since SeamSewSwell is an online boutique, I don’t have to deal with crazy crowds at the prepubescent hang-out some people call the mall.
SeamSewSwell creator Victoria Martin makes all the clothes and recruits her siblings to be the extra-stylin’ models. This makes me so psyched because I love when companies keep things in the family (sibs are great). Though there isn’t as many handmade pieces as there are vintage the pieces that are available are fab-u-lous. I sort of have a crush on jumpers because they bring me back to my early years, so, the Black & Gray Stripe Jumper has my name all over it. I also dig the Black Floral Dress. Tube dresses are always so cute except for I get annoyed with always pulling them up. I’ll just have to deal.
The vintage items are just as cute as the handmade stuff. Everyone needs a little black dress and the Black Hearts Dress is that perfect dress. The barely there black hearts pattern on the dress completely make the piece. I also really like the Leopard Dress. This is extremely surprising because I usually don’t like animal prints, but I can just see this with a cute pair of heels.
SeamSewSwell also has great vintage accessories. I obsess over necklaces so obviously I picked a couple of my favorites. The 2 Skeleton Keys Necklace reminds me of pirates so I swooned for that until my eyes fell upon the gorgeous Art Heart Necklace. It’s beautiful and has a tassel which would appease my jingles/ric-rac loving mom.
NOTE: Watch out for the sizes. For the vintage pieces, it’s whatever size Victoria happens to find them in, and the handmade pieces are made from a pattern so the sizes run a little small. Your best bet is to check the measurements. They’re pain-stakingly taken for a reason!
Forever 21 always finds a way to make me smile. This time my day-brightening smile has been summoned by a simple shirt called the
Maven Top. Forever 21 loves to take the cutest, most fashionable things and make them
their own. So obviously when they saw Anna Sui’s darling sweet and sour Spring 2007 collection they couldn’t resist getting
inspired and providing the world with the previously mentioned shirt. Sui’s collection had two adorable “don’t mess with me” white and black striped dresses with large red roses at the bottom. Forever 21 however has taken almost the exact same print and turned it into a flirty inexpensive shirt for us normal peeps to buy. I don’t hate Forever 21 for taking ideas, because technically that is what they are supposed to do (right?), but I do find it amusing how it is a blatant knock-off. I almost giggle inside thinking about it. Don’t worry though, I still love Forever 21 and would give it a kiss if people in the mall would stare. Since I can’t kiss you Forever 21, you’ll have to settle for nice green US currency, and maybe I’ll straighten up a little when I go in.
