Accessorize Like a Pirate

I’ve been psyched to see the final Pirates of the Caribbean movie since last summer. It’s absolutely terrible; the exact second the 2nd movie ended, I wanted to see the next movie. My obsession with POTC has made me buy many, many nautical style clothes and accessories (plus, who doeswn’t love the high seas?). Now the time has come for the final installment to come out (May 25th!), and I am even more amped to see it. One of my favorite things about Jack Sparrow is how he accessorizes. He always has strange things hanging from his hair and WAY too many rings, but some how it works. Though I don’t suggest covering your hand in rings, I do like the idea of throwing on a bold, pirate-inspired ring or two. When looking for the perfect pirate ring there is two things to think about. 1) Will this ring cover at least 1/3 of my finger? and 2) Does it catch the eye?
In a year where costume jewelry is completely in, finding a ring that is large and in charge should be no problem, but sometimes it’s hard to find sparkle that doesn’t turn your finger green. Some of the most charming rings with gems are from Shopbop, and if you’re willing to take your chances you can get sparkle a lot cheaper at Wet Seal (some things are only meant to be worn in small increments). Some of the best pirate-esque rings don’t have jewels in them, but they are eye-catching none the less. Stores like Urban Outfitters make tons of fun and terribly cute rings that won’t break your budget, but if you’re willing to splurge Anthropologie has the perfect gold ring for any aspiring pirate. I really wish being a pirate was an honorable job. For now I’ll just dream.
