Superhero Inspiration
Like the majority of my generation, I’m sort of a slave to social networking sites. For me though, its not as much of a meet new people to be friends with thing, its more of a “oh my, she has awesome style. I wonder where she shops.” kind of thing. One of the sites I’m on is called Buzznet.com. I’d describe it, but that’s not the point of the story. I saw this picture one of the creators took of Amy Winehouse’s shoes from Coachella, and I totally flipped. They are just mules, but I adore the comic book writing on them. It’s superhero chic, and who doesn’t want to be a superhero?
This got me thinking about how I love people who have a style all their own. It was great seeing crazy style choices from people like Mischa Barton, Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan, but all too soon these style choices became mainstream and everyone is dressing like them. When this happens I like to turn to indie style makers like Cory Kennedy, Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse. All of them have different styles, but their clothing choices are completely different from what the Hollywood girls are wearing. Its a breathe of fresh air. Check out some videos from Lily and Amy to see their very different styles:
Now that these ultra-stylish girls are sort of becoming well known, I know more and more people will copy their style. That means I’ll find new unique people to wonder where they bought their clothes, or better yet maybe I’ll end up as that person. Style is all about your personality right?
We Wanna Know: Who are your style icons?

Different doesn’t necessarily mean good. Amy Winehouse’s look is not very well put together. And I can’t stand Lily Allen. So i don’t like anything about her
Style Icons.
1. Olsen twins, duh
2. Chloe Sevigny.
3. Rachel Bilson.
4. Gwen Stefani.
I don’t think Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen are good role models, but they both do have a unique look that has undeniably effected the fashion industry especially Amy Winehouse, Lagerfeld model his Paris-Londres hair styles after her infamously ratty beehive, but I do agree with your choice of style icons. All five of those women are very fashion forward, and I often look to them for outfit inspiration when I’m having a bad clothes day.
