Tarina Tarantino: My Secret Obsession
I love, love, love Tarina Tarantino jewelry. Tarina isn’t a new find (for me at least), but this is the first time I’ve actually admitted my affection for her super-sparkly pieces. They are sort of a guilty pleasure because the frugal, probably sane, part of my mind tells me paying $300 for a cameo and some beads is absolutely loony, but the little girl in me that wants to be a princess and/or Barbie and wishes she had the money to blow.
Most people know Tarina Tarantino because of her famous Pink Head collection. I’m sure you’ve seen at least one piece before. Pink Head is the spawn of a genius collaboration between Tarina and Sanrio. Its everyone’s favorite kitten, Hello Kitty, with Tarina’s signature pink hair. Tarina also designs super girlie Barbie jewelry. Ribbon, Swarovski crystals, and Barbie cameos are perfect together. It reminds me of being little and begging for a My Size Barbie.
Though I adore all of her collections that remind me of my past, I can’t help but to swoon over the pieces that fit perfectly with my present. My all-time fave Tarina pieces are the Hippie Princess necklace and bracelet. The design is very “I just found a ton of beads, lets make a necklace!” I love how delicate the pieces are, and how the lilac color adds a hint of masculinity without over-powering the girlie essence. I could ramble on for hours about all Tarina’s great collections, but I think its better to experience the fantasia for yourself:
