I’m utterly smitten with this Sue Stemp ‘Atomic Dress’. The asymmetrical bottom with the front slit is so funky, and the pale pink color and little floral pattern makes it perfectly girlie. I’m not truly a fan of ruching, but with this dress I don’t mind it. You can’t really tell because the striped waistband draws the attention away from the ruching.
You could technically wear this for Summer and Fall. For summer wear it as a dress with bare legs and really cute sandals. For fall you could wear it with leggings or black tights and a pair of black ankle boots. How MKA!
Overall I give this dress an 11/10.
With tons of talk about magazines folding due to lack of readers and ads, Allure is taking cautionary measures to make sure we aren’t without a good beauty mag.
The August issue of Allure is officially the “Free Stuff Issue” (as of last year). Anytime I see the words FREE, I get utterly psyched, and apparently the advertising companies know this. Allure’s ad pages are the highest they’ve ever been for August which is great for them, but as consumers how does this work in our favor? Well, attached to many of these ads are free samples. That’s right, tons of trial versions of all those “I wonder if they really work” beauty products.
Not only are there free samples, everything seen in the editorial pages can be won. That’s 91 different things you can potentially win, and finally break the “I never win anything” curse. If you want, you can pick and choose which items you are going to try to win with this nifty Free Stuff Calender. Find out how to sign up here.

Valentino offers the New York ladies a few words of wisdom. What are they? “Stop flitting around the room like some spastic social butterfly during dinner. Its impolite!” Actually, as funny as that would have been, this is what he told Domino magazine recently, “I notice that young ladies in New York tend to move around the room more, oftentimes before the second course has been served. I do not approve of this and believe in staying seated from first course to dessert.” Goodness me, is he a stickler for manners.
Note to self, don’t put elbows on table when dining with Big-V, and refrain from calling him “Big-V” (Mr. Garavani perhaps?).

So a little game of tag is going around this here fashion blogging community, and I’ve been tagged by the lovely Chanel from Hip Candy! So here are the rules: Each player starts with 7 random facts/ habits about him or herself. They then tag 7 others and list their names on their blog. They are also asked to leave a comment for each of the tagged, letting them know they have been tagged and to read the blog. So after much procrastinating, here I go…
- I was 156% sure I wanted to be a marine biologist until this winter when I realised I spent more time doodling clothes in my bio notebook than actually taking notes. Obviously, a change in my major was needed!
- I suck at reading books. Well, at least I suck at making the process of reading a book last longer than a couple days max. I tend to read all day (sans nurishment and human contact) until I fall asleep or until the book is finished.
- My new found obsession is green tea. It tastes super yummy, and speeds up your metabolism (the easiest non-diet diet ever). The only side effect is, after about 1 1/2 cups I start to become ravenous, and that sometimes leads to very unhealthy eating.
- I refuse to get subscriptions to magazines for some unknown reason. Perhaps I just like going to the bookstore a bilion times each month.
- I’m obsessed with rock music (when I say rock, that encompasses most sub genres). First of all, I find rockstardom extremely intriguing. I’m assuming this is something like penis envy, except I just think it would be so rad to travel around the world, play music, an get paid for it. (I know, it’s probably harder than it seems). And secondly, I can’t help but swoon over guys that are musically inclined, so sue me!
- I’m online constantly. When I’m bored the first thing that pops into my head is to check and see if I have a new e-mail, then I head straight for my MySpace, Buzznet, and Livejournal (after I lovingly post a little something for you guys, obviously!).
- Every Sunday I watch Entourage with my dad. It’s a total father-daughter bonding experience, because we are the only two people in my family that likes the show. Oh, and I’m a total daddy’s girl!
So that’s that! My seven tags are Painfully Hip, Pretty Legit, Fashion Inc., Fashion Trend Guide, Fashionably Cute, Spork Fashion, and That’s Chic. So make sure to check out those blogs to see their 7 random facts!
Yesterday the finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund were announced. Out of 101 applicants 10 were chosen. The winner will receive £100,000 (about $200,000) and two runners up will be awarded £25,000 (about $50,000). All three recipients wil also receive a year’s worth of managerial guidance and support from a top industry executive. The lucky ten finalists who have to anxiously wait until November 15th to learn the results are: Phillip Lim of 3.1 Phillip Lim, Erin Fetherston of Fetherston Design Group, Nunthirat Koi Suwannagate of Koi, Gabriel Asfour, Angela Donhauser and Adi Gil of Threeasfour, Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai of Vena Cava, Victoria Bartlett of VPL, Rogan Gregory of Rogan, Scott Sternberg of Band of Outsiders, Michael Bastian, and Philip Crangi of Philip Crangi Jewelry.
There are a few specific designers that I am rooting for, but out of those Phillip Lim is my front runner. Who do you think will be the lucky designer this year?

Fall is nearing, as dreadful as that sounds, but that happens to be the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Though I love summer more than any season climate-wise, fall is the best season for clothes. It isn’t too cool or warm making layering the best option, and it is completely okay to wear suede shoes which is perfect, considering my new found lust of these Miu Miu two-tone pumps from Net-A-Porter.com.
Both black shoes and grey shoes are great staples for any one’s wardrobe, but putting those colors together adds a little flare to something so banal.
The pumps give off a bit of an 80s feel by having a rounded toe box with a v at the front. Gosh, 80s were such a great time retrospectively! Though the toe of the shoe is totally noteworthy, the heel is my favorite part by far. Aside from the fact you would gain about 4 1/2 inches when you wear these babies, I absolutely adore the black and grey patent leather gradient on the heel, swoon!
I wonder if someone would buy these for me for my birthday in the fall!
I’m sure everyone has heard the catchy song by Rihanna called “Umbrella”. You know the one where you can’t help but sing along to the semi-annoying chorus, “you can stand under my umberella-ella-ella…”. Now, not only can you stand under Rihanna’s umbrella, you can also buy it.
That’s right Rihanna has launched her own umbrella line with clothing company Totes. The Rihanna Umbrella collection has five umbrellas that come in multiple colors.
It isn’t quite a clothing line, but I personally appreciate this much more than an American Idol clothing line. At least this is useful!
I just love these pictures of Gemma Ward and Boyd Holbrook for Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fall/Winter 2007-08 collection. I think kilts are completely humorous for some reason, and the sharpie ’stache look on Boyd is completely amusing. I also think Boyd would be absolutely gorgeous if I were still attracted to clean-cut, pretty boys, but unfortunately that space in my heart has been filled with oddly grungy rockers.
Even though most of the clothes I wouldn’t wear unless paid, I really do like the black dress Gemma is wearing on the left.

Ameriacn Idol is great in a way. The first couple weeks are hilarious, and I’m sure the rest of the season is fun too (I tend to stop watching after the casting episodes). But, why, WHY, does E Online have an article about Lyric Culture coming out with an American Idol inspired fashion line called Lyrix by Lyric Culture?
The whole celeb fashion line thing was a little annoying, but I was generally okay with it. This, on the other hand, is taking things to a whole different level. It isn’t even as if they’re going to design clothes that fit each contestants “personal style”. It will be tees and such with lyrics from the songs the contestants sing on the show (other peoples songs, mind you) or slogans that people have come up with for various contestants. God save us all! I can just see a slew of young girls running around with Clay Aiken’s silly face on their shirt.
The line is going to be in girls and junior girls sizes initially, but unfortunately they do plan to expand the line. For anyone who is completely offended by my views and is a die hard American Idol fan, the launch of the clothing line will coincide with the start of the seventh season in February . At least I’ll have time to prepare!

A couple of weeks ago, I had a genius idea, and decided I was going to drag my siblings to the Harry Potter Borders Release Party. It was a joke at first, but now I think it might be a good idea. They’re having a costume contest for goodness sake! I’m definietly not going out to find a black robe and a wand, but I was thinking about dressing “festively” yet casually. Its going to be full of little kids, so who am I trying to impress? So, this is the Gryffindor-esque outfit I came up with. The best part is everything can be worn separately, and every piece is under $50!
Now all I have to do is decide who’s cuter Daniel Radcliffe or Rupert Grint!
