Pink Rock Candy – Top fashion trends, news and shopping of 2010

The October issue of Nylon has Cory Kennedy and Taylor Warren on the cover. To be absolutely honest, I didn’t (and still don’t) really know who Taylor Warren is, but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen her model in magazines before. Since I didn’t know who Taylor is, I’m glad I knew who Cory Kennedy is. You know, “Internet phenom”, Cobrasnake “muse”, and style icon to some.
Visually, I like the spread. Both Taylor and Cory have interesting style, are beautiful girls, and are masters of the hipster, “I’m not amused,” pose. Also, In one of the pictures Taylor is wearing the Chanel penguin sweater that I can’t decide if I love or hate (I’d probably hate it if I didn’t think Karl was such a cue old guy). The pictures are well done, but I feel like I’ve seen it all before. Considering most of the feature spreads in Nylon are sort of blah, I guess this fits in well.

The content on the other hand left something to be imagined. They are both really interesting girls considering they’re 17 and 19 and have already made a name for themselves, but both interviews just seemed shallow. I didn’t feel like I leardned anything about either girl, and I thought that is what cover stories are supposed to do, yo know, give you info on the person on the cover. Who was to blame for the lack of content is anyone’s guess, but if I’m going to actually read an article, I do want sustenance. C’est la vie!
