Better Late than Never

PlayRadioPlay! - Dan HunterEveryone does it. They briefly hear about a band, but pay no attention because you were too busy doing who knows what. Then someone tells you how absolutely great a band is so you check them out, and guess what? Same Band! That is how I found out about PlayRadioPlay!. I had seen the name somewhere, but it wasn’t until I saw a bulletin on myspace saying to check them out, did I actually listen to the music, and I’m glad I finally took the time because they’re awesome.

Actually when I say “they’re” its just sort of technical because PlayRadioPlay is one guy, 17-year-old Daniel Hunter, who is a total cutie if that means anything.

PRP is signed to Stolen Transmission, a label which I have total respect for, back in late 2006. They really take chances and sign bands people should actually listen to, instead of bands that just sound like every other band around (does that make sense). I promise I have no affiliation with them (I wish!). When I first took a listen, I wanted to fall a sleep in the best way! The songs are sort of electro-poppy, but not rave style; think The Postal Service. It’s the perfect balance of slightly-synthesized, keyboard beats and soft, put-you-to-sleep-with-it’s-beauty, vocals. All of that is only the tip of the iceberg. If you truly listen to the lyrics you get a bit of a darker picture, and this combo gives the music a ton of depth.

Right now PRP is on tour with Spill Canvas; you can see the tour dates here. Also, you can get The Frequency EP on itunes for $4.99 right now!
