Travis Barker’s “Low” Remix

Chelsea Rae Simmons | Entertainment,Music | Tuesday, 15 January 2008

Travis Barker is at it again! Once again he’s putting his free time and major drumming skills to good use, and remixing songs I would never otherwise listen to, and making them tolerable at the very least. The last song he made anew was Soulja Boi’s song “Crank Dat”. Not only did I watch the youtube video repeatedly, I even managed to download the remixed song and listen to it every now and then. This time around Travis is breathing new life into Flo Rida’s song “Low”.

I should preface this by saying, the first time I ever heard of Flo Rida, was while watching MTV and a commercial for their New Year’s Eve show, during which he performed, came on my screen. My initial thought was “God, I hope he knows his name spells Florida, and that he is actually from Florida.” I still have no idea whether either of those things are true, but I assume they are. I only caught the last 30 minutes of the MTV New Year’s Eve show, and though I could have watched Flo Rida’s performance, I chose not to and changed the channel. That being said, the first time I actually heard the complete song was when I watched this video, and I must say, I don’t hate “Low” like I did “Crank Dat”. Though its obvious I would have been completely content without ever having heard the song.

In terms of the actual remix, I liked the Soulja Boi remix better than this one, but this one is still pretty great. Sometimes I feel like Travis uses his cymbols excessively, but that may just be me. He also didn’t do as many rad drum rolls as he did in the other remix but that may be because the song, didn’t call for it. I’m no drummer, so I can’t really be choosey, but overall I like it. What do you think of Travis Barker’s “Low” remix?
