What’s a Girl to Do?
![]() |
Why in God’s name is it so hard to find a cute skirt? Apparently, cheaply made pencil skirts and tween-friendly, fluttery denim minis are the skirt trends for spring and summer. Unfortunately, that’s not what I want to wear. The skirt I want actually cost $300 from Prada (pick any of the skirts in the ad and that’s the one I want), and looks fantastic on Sasha P. matched with a gray tank or just any casual tee. I however, don’t want to spend that much on a couple yards of fabric. All I want for the onset of warmer weather, is a delightful, multifarious, semi-long skirt, that doesn’t make me look like a tramp or a secretary or any combination of the two.
I suppose I could find a pattern and try to sew it, but I currently have no time and minimal sewing skill, so that’s out of the question. I could also head to Anthropologie because they usually have flirty but not slutty skirts— unfortunately, the skirts they have up now just don’t quite work.
What is a girl to do?
For now, I plan on sulking until I can find a reasonably priced skirt that is voluminous enough to make me smile. I also might start saving a bit of money so I can blow it all on the Prada skirt I want, who knows. Maybe I’ll just walk around in tutus like some of the brass-balled, rainbow-headed scene girls. Decisions. Decisions!
If any of you guys know a skirt that fits the bill, let me know!

Anthropologie’s stuff has gotten better, I got a really cute skirt there last week.
but I hate the denim mini look as well :-P.
I feel you girl. I hate denim minis. But maybe you’ll find some luck!
Contrary to your belief that pencil skirts and mini skirts aren’t what’s hot right now because they either make one look like a librarian or a hussy or both (is that fashionably possible? lol), I still felt compelled to put my two-sense worth and well fashion is fashion. For a fraction of the cost I found semi long, pleated, floral or solid colored skirts at Express (Express.com). I, on the other hand, feel like those Prada skirts in the ad are something that 50’s country bumpkin movie star Ma Kettle would wear if she were colorblind. But as I said previously, Fashion is Fashion!
Good luck in your search,

You need to check out vintage skirts! eBay or any of the vintage sites….
What’s in Fashion is what fits your particular body well. What may look ‘hot” on one person may look idiotic on another. it’s the person that makes the fashion…..I’ve bought basic black capri’s that make me look like a Wal-mart shopper..My tall lanky girlfriend has the same pair that make her”eye-poppin special”
[...] completely obsessed with skirts for Spring, and though the skirts I’ve recently purchased aren’t quite the Prada skirts I was lusting over, they’re still totally cute. Unfortunately, I haven’t had much of a chance to wear them [...]
You could always look on eBay, there’s always great stuff there.
I’m completely eBay retarded, I never know what to search and then I don’t have enough patience to flip through 20 pages of skirts I don’t really want. Maybe this summer I’ll figure it out.
I have however found a couple cute skirts, that aren’t quite the prada skirts, but are cute none the less.
