The Multi-Purpose White Dress
Most girls dream of that special day wear they get to dress up like a princess or at the very least feel like one, the day when they walk down the aisle and are permanently (or as permanent as can be in today’s society) bound to the man of their dreams. I on the other hand, dream of the day when I walk down an aisle to my front row seat at a Marc Jacobs show, but that doesn’t mean I can’t look at the pretty white gowns Oscar de la Renta sends down the runway for Bridal fashion week.
I know the gown is technically a wedding dress and I’m not looking to get married anytime soon— but, why do long pretty white gowns have to always be wedding dresses. That’s totally dress discrimination! I choose to give all dresses the potential to be whatever they want, this applies to non wedding dresses being worn as wedding dresses too, and this dress just wants to be worn to the perfect picnic on a radiant sunny day.
This dress isn’t your typical tulle laden, puffy, strapless ball gown with a sweetheart neckline and lots of sparkle. It’s very understated and I love the multiple diaphanous layers and the casual collared shirt with the little breast pocket. I also really think that the spring of flowers in the sash and straw hat gives the outfit a less wedding-y feel. I just keep imagining Marie Antoinette chasing chickens and picking the giant rhubarb that grows at her mini farm in the Versaille gardens.
Can some wedding dresses can pass as normal dresses?

I think some wedding dresses should pass as normal dresses. After all, wedding dresses are only worn once - what a waste of a beautiful dress!
I agree, wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses should be worn as many times as possible eve if that means altering them so they’re actually wearable in everyday situations.
