Pink Rock Candy, 1970s Christian Dior sunglasses frames

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of Christian Dior? At the risk of sounding like Kimora Lee Simmons or Christian Siriano, I must say the first word I think of is “FABULOUS!” Hence the reason, I was beyond excited to learn YOOX.com will be selling vintage Dior items starting June 4th. The more than 20 vintage items being sold were created in the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s, and I knew there was bound to be at least one piece I’d fall desperately in love with and lust over for a minimum of a month, and boy, was I right!

As I scrolled through the lookbook, I imagined caressing dazzling film actress, Maria Felix’s, haute couture cocktail dress from ‘67 or being blinded by the gleam of an amethyst necklace owned by Adriana Grassi, correspondent for publications such as Women’s Wear Daily and Gap Magazine. However, it wasn’t the perfectly cut dresses or the glittering jewels that piqued my fancy, it was a chic pair of sunglasses from the 70s.

Through some combination of the ombre frames, the unique shape, and my love of sunnies, I knew these glasses were made for me— better yet, if reincarnation really does exist, I was the proud owner of this pair of sunglasses, or at least a pair like this, during the 70s, in one of my past lives.

Unfortunately for me, I don’t have $700 to spend on anything, much less a pair of sunnies. So, I’m destined to a life, or month, or week, of irrational lusting. The kind where you talk about the object of your affection until the ears of everyone around you bleed. Luckily, by the time their oraphuses heal, your friends and family will have forgiven you, and you’ll be back to normal and ready to obsess over something else!

The sale officially launches on YOOX.com, June 4th and is expected to run through July.
