Pink Rock Candy, H&M wide leg jeans, Chelsea Rae

My mom constantly expresses her staunch disdain for the many pair of skinny jeans I own. She says they don’t look right, and yadda ya, but still I persist on buying them and ignore her protests. I figure, its my money, and if in the event I do actually look like a fool, then I’ve paid to look like a fool and she shouldn’t care. Then, last Thursday I walk into the H&M on the corner of 42nd and 5th and right in front by the escalators are these amazing pair of wide leg jeans. I had to have them, and luckily, my mom loves them too.

For the most part I don’t dress for anyone but myself. If others complain, I just ignore them, but there is that little part of me that can be swayed by pictures of others looking wicked in a certain outfit/item of clothing. That’s what happened with my new pair of wide leg jeans.

Katie Holmes— God, I can’t believe I’m about to actually talk about her on my blog— well, she’s been dressing really casually, but it looks rad to the point that I think everyone is falling for her look. Unfortunately, I, too, am quite susceptible to the charms of her rolled boyfriend jeans and high-waisted wide legs. She just looks really put together but undeniably comfortable, and any collage student, who actually cares about fashion in the slightest, knows polished yet casual is the best look for class.

So, because of Katie Holmes, I finally gave into the wide leg jeans trend, and bought a pair. Actually, if you count my sister’s dark washed denim wide leg jeans that I wear from time to time, I have 1½ pairs of wide leg jeans— sharing is caring, right? The jeans are a tad long, but most jeans are long compared to my really short legs. I’m wearing 5½ inch heels in the picture and they’re still brushing the ground— note to self, get jeans hemmed— but, otherwise the fit is perfect, and I love how it looks with a casual v-neck tucked in. I probably would’ve even paired it with a cardigan if it wasn’t 80 degrees outside.

For some odd reason, I’ve been buying a lot of gray, so, almost every new t-shirt I have is some shade of gray. I’ve really got to get color back into my wardrobe!

Who has inspired you to wear something different, lately? Am I crazy for thinking Katie Holmes is starting to dress more stylish, and who else thinks she hired a new stylist?

p.s. My hair isn’t cut, it’s just curly and pinned up…
