Spring 2009 Fashion Week Fix – Alexander Wang

I’ve been obsessing over Alexander Wang, for God knows how long. He’s like that gay friend you’ve always wanted, but you’ll probably never meet. So, when it came to the fashion week schedule, Wang’ s slot was one of the first I looked for to make sure I knew exactly when it was, in the very doubtful instance I might be able to finagle my way in. I wasn’t, but the collection was great none the less.
Usually, I love the very avant garde collections with an unreasonable amount draping and or oddly shaped silhouettes, but Alex Wang has always gone with simple yet slightly urban and totally hip clothes and has still managed to garner my affection. The Spring 2009 collection was no different. The shirts were perfectly slouched, the bodycon dress were walking the line of slutty and sexy, the shorts were just hip enough to be loved by every hipster from Boston to Beijing, and the colors were the perfect mix of goth and nu rave with a bit of Cher Horowitz thrown in.
Oh, and Alex was FAB-U-LOUS!
