Milly at the Cabana

Chelsea Rae Simmons | Dresses,Fashion,Resort | Tuesday, 16 December 2008

Pink Rock Candy, Milly, Resort 2009, Cabana 2009, Aqua cotton dress

When it comes to magazines, there are two absolute truths in my world. Truth 1, it will take a lot for me to stop flipping through while glancing at pictures and actually read an article. Truth 2, I hate limiting my magazine “reading” to just fashion magazines.

I tend to flip through everything from Vogue to AP to Highlights— only at the dentist’s office, though.

The other day, I was glancing through the new Modern Bride magazine— no, I’m not getting married— with Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway on the cover and saw the most amazing aqua dress by Milly. I fell for Milly dresses around the same time I started PRC, and it seems the girlie allure still isn’t lost on me.

The aqua, cotton voile ‘Crescent Beach’ dress is part of Milly’s ‘Cabana’ collection, which, I assume, is their clever name for the resort collection.

Though I privately scoff at women who can afford to buy from resort collections and actually take a holiday in the winter, I can’t help but adore this dress. It has a very flirty, ‘love is in the air’ feel, and I think it would be perfect for racing through the throngs of gray, black, and denim on campus or in NYC, spreading cheer to anyone who catches a glimpse of me.

It makes me want all this winter’s rain and flurries to disappear, so the sun can come out and the temperature can once again rise to at least 75 degrees. Until then, I’ll just save for the dress and dream of the warmer weather sure to come.

Milly has always been uber-adorable, but I didn’t appreciate it until I began to embrace a-line skirts, tulle, lace, bows, and dresses in general.

I share the same magazine truths as you; I always feel slightly guilty for not reading the articles in my mags. I spend time with the glossy new copy, circling and folding the pages of the clothes/looks I love.
