A Grand Skirt

Chelsea Rae Simmons | Fashion,My Style,Pink Rock Candy | Thursday, 15 January 2009
Pink Rock Candy, Chelsea Rae, floral pencil skirt

A while ago, my grandma gave me a ton of great winter/early spring skirts. When I first saw this one, I thought, “this is so granny,” but after trying it on, I loved it. The floral pattern on the skirt sort of reminded me of the one from the Vera Wang Lavender Label SS ’09 collection.

I wish I could wear it to my internship, but considering I have to run around NYC on a daily basis in below zero weather, no lie, a tight-ish pencil skirt without tights wouldn’t be ideal. And, I’d wear tights, but I have no idea what color tights to pair with this skirt. Any suggestions?

p.s. Don’t mind the mess I was in my brother’s old room and he still hass books and video games everywhere!

Adorable skirt! I like the entire outfit, but especially the shoes.

You do have a quandary there. Tights could throw the whole thing off. I would just say sheer and call it a day, but that doesn’t really provide any warmth. Knit tights would be good for warmth, but the texture would definitely make you want to change shoes, especially if those are pumps like I think they are.

Yeesh, I thought I’d think of something by the time I typed this, but I was wrong. What if you reserve those shoes for warmer weather? How does the skirt look with “chunkier” shoes? I know knit tights would look better with those, but I can’t even imagine what they’d look like with the skirt. And, I want to say oatmeal colored tights, but that turns out awful in my head, lol. Well, good luck. Maybe if you ponder on it long enough, it’ll be spring and not matter anymore. :)

Black is always a safe choice. Or perhaps go for a bold jewel tone if you’re feeling brave.
