Time to Invest: Sunglasses

Chelsea Rae Simmons | Accessories,Fashion,Sunglasses | Tuesday, 31 March 2009
Pink Rock Candy, Ray-Ban, Wayfarer Skinnies, Tonal Wayfarer

Never one to splurge on things I know will break, sunglasses and costume jewelry is designated to the realm of $30 and under. However, I think 2009 may be the year I feel comfortable and mature enough not to toss my sunglasses at the bottom of my purse in a subconscious attempt to trample them when I toss my purse on the floor. This means I think I’m ready to invest in a pair of sunglasses that will last me through the decades and various trends.

It might seem extremely obvious and trendy that I want to invest a bit of money in Ray-Bans, however the truth of the matter is, Ray-Ban has proven its staying power through out the ages and let’s not forget that they have managed to reinvigorate the trendiness of many of their iconic styles including the Wayfayers, Aviators, and Clubmaster.

Buying a pair of non-standard Wayfayers will not only mark the time in which I purchased them for posterity, but they will be great pieces to save for my children and grandchildren to play with and maybe even wear seriously when the trend comes back around. Plus, Wayfarers look really good on almost every face shape.

Which pair should I buy, the Wayfarer Skinnies priced at $129 or the Tonal Wayfarers costing $139?

Stay Gold Ponyboy

Pink Rock Candy, Chelsea Rae, Gold Silk shirt

There is only one thing I hate about spring and it starts with “clean” and ends with “ing”. In general, I’m not a fan of cleaning, but spring cleaning is the worst because you’re expected to clean everything— the little corners, under the bed, in the random closet no one uses, all those places you hide things in anticipation of never seeing them again.

Luckily, this year spring cleaning has provided me with a new addition to my wardrobe.

It’s big, it’s gold, and it’s from the 90s. That’s right, at some point during the 90s, my dad had a MC Hammer phase which I must have repressed. Who in their right mind would spend money on a short sleeve gold silk button down?

Though I wouldn’t pay for such a gauche shirt, I’d definitely wear it belted with leggings and sky-high heels. Here’s to the 90s. You’ll always be in my heart and closet.

Girlie in Ella

Chelsea Rae Simmons | Fashion,My Style,Pink Rock Candy | Friday, 27 March 2009
Pink Rock Candy, Chelsea Rae, navy Ella Moss dress Spring is making me want to dress girlier and girlier. There’s something about warmer weather that makes me feel the need to strip off all the layers, put a flower in my hair and bare my gams, for better or worse.

Ella Moss dresses are always comfortable and simple yet create a fantastic young and sexy air. I rarely ever wear navy, and don’t really have anything that would match the dress but these brown sandals (note to self: buy more brown shoes), but the shape of the hem made me excuse my lack of pairing options. I love a good handkerchief hem!

I’m actually wearing the dress backwards. The front has a key hole neckline, and though I think a key hole exposing a bit of cleavage can be sexy, lately, I’m liking the idea of covering the chest and exposing atypical erogenous zones like the back and collar bones.

Whether I end up wearing this Ella Moss dress the proper way or not, I’m pretty sure it will be a staple for me this spring and summer.

Dress: Ella Moss • Shoes: Tahari • Necklace: Target
