I used to love heading to the Anthropologie website to find my latest skirt obsession— they have gorgeous skirts— but, until recently, Anthropologie has fallen to the wayside. About a month, or so, ago I bought a great dress and necklace from the Anthros store around the corner from me. Now, my obsession for the the store has bee rejuvenated.
The clothes are all very well made and super chic. These are my newest loves from Anthros!
Yesterday, I hung out with my parents and my grandparents. Though it was fairly overcast, it had been the first day were there was limited rain, since my grandparents came into town. With that in mind, we headed to this little island owned by the town in which I live.
I’d never been there, but it was quite pleasant, not much bigger than a football field with beach on one side and rocks on the other. The elders shared a bottle of wine and chatted while I snapped away, hoping to luck into a good picture. I also dipped my feet in the ice cold Long Island Sound, but didn’t mind the frigidity because being in a little salt water will bring a smile to my face faster than you can say ’sea’.
Also, a couple days ago, I bought the khaki motorcycle jacket Alexander Wang designed for GAP’s CFDA collection, and I love it. I wore it on the ferry ride to the island because it was a bit chilly.

Some kids rebel by sneaking out the house or throwing wild parties. I rebel by mixing colors that generally don’t go together and by refusing to sacrifice style to be weather-ready, but I’m not sure that is insurrection enough. I think I might kick it up a notch by mixing tons of clashing patterns, taking inspiration from the SUNO Spring/Summer 2009 collection.
Last night, a group of girls, including Secretista and Casey from TeenFashionista, and I made our way to the Nylon/KSWISS/Ed Westwick event at Bloomingdales. It was pouring rain, making me slightly less than excited about going anywhere, but when I got there, the low excitement was replaced by an overwhelming since or boredom.
The mass of Chuck Bass fangirls made it impossible to not only see the “Old School Dance-Off”, but Westwick himself. Apparently, he was there judging, but I couldn’t see him and wasn’t interested in pushing myself through a crowd or standing on my tip-toes. So, I shopped— well, browsed— instead.
By the time I had a chance to take pictures of my floral dress, that has quickly become one of my favorite summer pieces, I was windswept and had been rained on more than I would have liked to be.
What a bust!

I’ve been in a clothing slump of sorts, hence the shoe heavy posts. I think I may be at that point when you realize trends aren’t worth the money/energy, but being the pop-culturally indoctrinated 20 year-old, I can’t help but want to subscribe.
Part of me yearns to dress in nothing but basic tees/tanks and circle skirts of various lengths for the rest of my life, but the other part wants to go slice up a light wash pair of skinnies, then bathe them in bleach.
I’d love to tell you that I’ve found the brand to settle the eternal battle between trendy and classic, but I haven’t. Until I do, I’m going to lust over the bright colored and bleach-dipped fabrics LA-based label, Laeken, uses to created their sporty yet casually feminine clothes.
Laeken designer and professional stylist, Mallyce Miller, sort of has my dream job, minus the whole designing thing. She travels the world looking for inspiration which, according to the bio on the Laeken website, she finds not only in Chinatowns, Cambodian temples, and skate parks, but while merching on tour with her friends’ bands.
Shop and drool over the clothes while I sort things out.
