But They’re So Cute

Chelsea Rae Simmons | Accessories,Fashion,Shoes | Monday, 15 June 2009
Pink Rock Candy, Paris Hilton shoes
1. ‘Carie’ shoe, $80.00 •   2. ‘Belle’ shoe, $74.90 •  3. ‘Glam’ boot, $110.25

I was slightly concerned for my sanity when I realized the shoes I had just been gawking at were from Paris Hilton’s footwear line. Not that there’s anything wrong with her. It takes a smart person to hoodwink others into paying said person to act dumb. I may respect her business prowess, but her personal style— not so much.

After about an hour of being confused at my taste in shoes, I realized that I don’t have to be ashamed of my fondness for some of the shoes in Paris Hilton’s footwear line for two reason: 1) Paris didn’t actually design the shoes she probably only nodded at a picture of the shoes she liked— if that— and 2) these shoes are eerily similar to a lot of shoes I’ve seen from other designers making them unoriginal, but infinitely cheaper.

All that being said, the red soles make me uneasy. I may not have a problem buying “inspired’ shoes, but sporting shoes whose soles are deceptively similar to those of by Christian Louboutin just seems… WRONG!

Hmm, I’m with you on this.

After seeing your post here, I found myself perusing her looks as well.
Man, affordable and cute shoes can be so hard to come by, so it’s tempting, but I really just don’t think I can wear a red-soled shoe not designed by Christian Louboutin. He worked to establish a true shoe empire.
I think the guilt of knowing where credit is due and where it is cheapened would outweigh my love for the cuteness of the shoe and the happy full feeling in my purse.

    Things to think about, thanks!

wow i’ve seen a few pairs of paris hilton shoes before and felt a little scared that they were by her
i hate to admit i really like that ‘carie’ shoe, but i could never buy it, having that label on it and with the fake red sole
i thought that nobody but louboutin was allowed to use the red sole?

That’s what I thought too, laura. I thought there was some trademark something-or-another with the red sole, but I guess not. Perhaps he trademarked the exact color red, i don’t know, but I don’t think I could buy P. Hil’s shoes for said reason.

Hmm wow I actually like these shoes. But yea, I probably like them because they look a lot like shoes from other designers. The Glam boots are total Chloe look-a-likes. I still probably wouldn’t buy them though. I’d rather save up on original designer shoes.

I love original designers but I am totally confident and fashion conscious enough to know that what's hot is just that….HOT! I actually bought the glam shoes by Paris Hilton and absolutely LOVE them! The bottom is hot pink not red. And they are comfortable. I wore them with a pink bubble skirt and a BCBG military jacket!
