Pink Rock Candy, Nasty Gal vintage crochet shawl When the entire fashion world seems to be veering toward hard lines, big shoulders, and studs galore, every inch of me is moving in the opposite direction. I want soft lines, flowy fabrics, and girlie details. That’s why through all the 80s style vintage jackets on Nasty Gal, I found myself clicking on an ever-bohemian crochet shawl.

Perhaps, this urge to be contrary is a latent rebellion from my mild-mannered and overall anticlimactic teenage years. Perhaps, I am simply tired of constantly following the new “it” trend. Perhaps, I just like the shawl. Does this mean I’m truly finding my personal style?

Maybe, but I’ve always been slightly drawn to gypsy looking things. Though, I do think my strong leanings toward the kinder, gentler garments are simply my way of being contrary. I’m officially biting my thumb at the fashion machine.

This rebellion still isn’t going to keep me from carrying my new DIY studded bag, though. I do love contrasting aesthetics!

    Exactly! I love Nasty Gal…

I’m styling a shoot on Monday and I’m using them as an aesthetic rather than the whole Gaga-esque-ness!

I like the soft femininity of knits, boho dresses, and slouchy scarves. I’d wear the crochet shawl on a cold night for sure!

I’m in need of a my own personal fashion style. I’m in love with the gypsy look myself. I think you pull it off quite well! :)

I’m with you. Of course my rebellion comes from being an exhausted mama and not caring if something is in or out. If it looks good on me and I’m up to the effort to put it on, I’m working it whether or not it’s been deemed uncool!

I like things with girly elements as well! I’ve never been too good with following trends to their fullest extent though (they eventually grow on me, but only when they’re going out of style.)

By the way, I’m doing a chickdowntown giveaway as well, and I was hoping you might want to enter!
