An Interview Outfit

Each time I have to go to an interview, I get that ever-so-annoying sinking feeling in my stomach. I’m not worried about the interview, itself, but about what I’m going to wear to it. This may be the shallowest sentiment presented, especially when it comes to job interviews, but I’m a giant advocate of making a good first impression, physically as well as mentally.
With that in mind, I threw this little number on to wear at an interview I had today. Generally, I’m not one to follow the “always wear a blazer to job interviews” rule, but after finding this lightweight boyfriend blazer at Macy’s on Saturday, wearing it somewhere important was a must.
Paired with the blazer is a great printed wrap dress, which I bought at the same time as the blazer, and one of the pocket watches I won on eBay.

When it comes to interview outfits, especially when interviewing for a fashion related position, I only have two rules:
- Wear at least one dark color, preferably black. It’s neutral, but still chic.
- Heels, heels, heels! When being oriented to college, we had an interview seminar where they instructed us never to wear high heels over 2 inches. I threw most of their rules to the wayside. Thus, as per usual, the higher the heel, the better, as long as you can walk in them. No one wants to slip and fall at their job interview.
What are your interview outfit rules?

I love your blazer! The pocket watch is cute and classic. I use to get nervous on interviews but not anymore lol
Wow, you look great. I really love that dress and the contrast between the print and the blazer. Beautifully done, indeed.
You look so gorgeous !!! but remember interview is not a fashion show.
Interviews definitely aren’t a fashion show, Laura, but when working in the fashion industry, like I do, it’s pretty darn close. Clothes are very important in such a image driven industry.
