The Rachel | Rachel Roy collection for Macy’s came out a hair over a week ago, and I’m a smitten kitten. I’m becoming increasingly attracted to bold prints, and this collection more than fulfills my lusts. Plus, the designs are just New York enough for little gypsy me to feel the slightest bit cooler.
There must be something about the name Rachel that simply exudes coolness. Remember back in the day when everyone was trying to get ‘The Rachel’ hairstyle? Well, Rachel | Rachel Roy has double the cool ‘Rachel’ cred, and less awkward layers.
The line retails from $59 to $299 for sportswear, $79 to $199 for footwear, $40 – $195 for jewelry and $69 to $109 for handbags, and is available at Macy’s and on RachelRoy.com.
Oh, and did I love the Alice Smith song in the Rachel | Rachel Roy video lookbook? (more…)
Yesterday was spent full on lounging. I woke up, threw on my swimsuit and this kaftan tunic I bought from T.J.Maxx and spent the day by the pool.
I’ve been looking for a good pool cover-up that I could wear during the fall, for the past few months, and was thinking of splurging on this Diane von Furstenberg kaftan from Net-a-Porter— actually, I still wish I could splurge on it— but, this tunic will have to do. It’s opaque enough that I can wear it as an everyday piece, and long enough to technically be worn as a mini dress, but perhaps for school, I’ll throw some shorts or leggings on under, as not to cause a scene when a gust of wind just happens to surprise me.
Also, I got a puppy about a month ago. He’s a 5-month-old, Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier named Riley a.k.a. Monster. When I first brought him home, I tweeted about it, and Noel from Miss Couturable asked me to post a picture. It’s super late, but here’s my pup in all his adorableness.
On the interweb, you will come across three main types of vintage shopping. The first being cheapo crap said to be vintage, but in all actuality the seller purchased the banality from Walmart last week. The second being pieces that will cost you your first born whether it’s the original Chanel LBD or some random person’s mom’s aunt’s LBD from the 80s— think about it. The last, and most elusive, form of online vintage is reasonably priced, quality vintage from reputable a reputable dealer, and one such e-tailer is Avant Gaudy.
I pretty much love anything that is a bit gaudy so, they pretty much had me at hello. After c licking through again and again, I knew I was in love. If Jimi Hendrix and Rachel Bilson created a vintage boutique, it’d be like Avant Gaudy. As a matter of fact, if Jimi Hendrix and Rachel Bilson had a daughter, I’d imagine she’d be like me. Perhaps that’s why I’m so fond of the store.
With loads of different decades and designs, the vintage lover will fawn over Avant Gaudy’s collection of goods which not only encompasses treasures for gals , but nuggets for guys too. Best of all, nothing will break the bank. “Anyone can look good, and looking good does not equate with spending a lot of money…[and] not necessarily spending a lot of time in a shopping mall,” said founder, Deborah Umunnabuike.
If you haven’t visited the Avant Gaudy website yet, definitely make sure you head over quickly to snap up all the goodies you possiblely can, and then treat yourself to a mani-pedi and Creamsicle dessert with the money you saved.
