Playing Dress-Up in Twinkle

For those who didn’t know, Dara from Secretista and I go to the same university and are really good friends. So, when she sent me an email saying the university’s magazine was doing its first ever fashion spread, and they needed models, I jumped at the opportunity.
Needless to say, I was selected as one of the models due to nepotism or because I was the link to Twinkle by Wenlan from whom they were getting a ton of samples for the shoot— my skill as a model, or lack there of, had nothing to do with it, I promise.
On the day of the shoot, my life was super hectic, as usual, but in an extremely amateur way, I sort of pulled it out.
All of the female models— I think there were ten— wore at least one Twinkle piece. I wore Twinkle’s ‘Blockade’ sweater ($165 at Shopbop.com) and chunky knit ‘Cable Car’ hat ($71 on TwinkleByWenlan.com)— the rest was from my wardrobe.
I’m not a big winter hat person because I feel like my hair is too short for it to look normal, but I do like the ‘Cable Car’ hat because it’s super warm.
The ‘Blockade’ sweater is one of my favorite Fall pieces from Twinkle. I love the varied sheerness of the mohair sweater, but what to layer under it, as not to be too scandalous, is a conundrum. If you’re a bit of an exhibitionist, then a cute bra peaking through the gauzy sweater is fine, but if you’re worried about leaving something to the imagination or catching cold, a cami would theoretically be the way to go. However, with a black camisole, you lose the opaque blocks that separate this sweater from other sheer sweaters, and oddly wearing other colors just looks funny.
So, how did we fix this problem for the shoot? We turned my black cami into a thicker bandeau bra, and called it a day. Normally though, I think I was just go bras-to-the-wall and let the sexiness work in my favor.
