Loving the Little Bag

Chelsea Rae Simmons | Accessories, Fashion, Handbags | Tuesday, 09 March 2010
Pink Rock Candy, Diane von Furstenberg - Peggy Foldover large suede clutch
Peggy Foldover by Diane von Furstenberg, $395

I need a small bag. The last bag I had that was smaller than eight inches in height and a few inches deep was in seventh or eighth grade— that’s almost seven years ago. The only thing that could convince me to downsize was this gorgeous little clutch by Diane von Furstenberg.

The DVF ‘Peggy Foldover’ is perfectly bohemian. The tan color is wonderful for spring and the gold accents remind me of sunnier days to come.

I, however, am more likely to splurge on shoes than a bag, so I’ve found less expensive bags that remind me of the DVF clutch. Some of the bags have great gold touches while others simply have that boho flair.

Clutch by Forever21, $16
Double Pocket Cross-Body Bag from Urban Outfitters, $88

Though a smaller bag is totally clutch (pun intended), I’m going to have to figure out what I can live without because I won’t be able to fit my entire life in the cool little bags.

Talk Back: When you carry a clutch, what do you put in your bag?

  • I might just have him get all four of the ones shown, clutches are all the rage these days well actually these last few years too. Love your website Chelsea you have something special going on here and your taste is one to be craved by many!
  • I wish I could carry a small clutch. I'm an oversized bag kinda gal. I like to kid myself into thinking that I can rock a clutch but I always overstuff, get pissed, burst a zipper....something bad will happen haha.

but this DVF is such a cute one!
  • That's what scares me about smaller bags. I know I'm going to want to have my phone, and money, and my ID & credit card and a lipstick or two and maybe eyeliner and my keys. I don't think all of it will fit, and then, instead of having a chic clutch, I'll be carrying what looks like a bedazzled sausage. The DVF clutch is just so pretty, it makes me want to downsize.
  • I actually have that F21 studded clutch. I try to only put keys, cash/cards, my iphone, and lip gloss when I'm using a small clutch. Sometimes I find it hard to downsize!
  • I'm with you, cant put anything in a clutch really your lucky if your car keys and the celly fits in, anything else will have to be left behind. These are some nice looking ones though - the two in the middle are the best might have to tell my baby I want something new.
  • You should accidentally leave the pictures on his computer, so he thinks he's come up with a great idea for a surprise gift. Plus, they're pretty inexpensive!
