How exactly does one ruin a gorgeous Marchesa dress? Ask Amanda Bynes. She didn’t physically ruin the dress, at least I don’t think, but the essence of the gown definitely wasn’t there. At the SAG Awards, Miss Bynes wore a beauty of a teal, strapless Marchesa gown from the 2008 resort collection. Unfortunately for Amanda, the dress made her look like she was going to the prom. Unless I have things mixed up, I don’t think the red carpet is anything like the prom, though some seem to think otherwise.
I think this may be one of those times when a dress does look better on a hanger or a model who might as well be a hanger than on an actual person, and lets face it, Amanda Bynes is a real girl with a normal dress size, not like Miss Double Zero herself, Eva Longoria-Parker. The top of her dress seemed to squeeze her chest in and the empire waist made her look shorter. Though I’m not saying I could wear the dress any better than Amanda did (at 5’4″ there’s no doubt in my mind she’s at least a few inches taller than me), but I didn’t like that dress on her very much.
Who wore it better, the model or Amanda Bynes?

The gorgeous Rachel Bilson recently went to the Chanel and P.S. Arts Party at the Chanel Beverly Hills store, wearing a gorgeous black Chanel dress, what else?! So why is this a big deal? Well, she wore the dress backwards, but this time unlike other celeb slip-ups it was on purpose. The dress was originally worn by Lily Donaldson at the Fall 2007 Chanel RTW show, but that time the dress was worn with the front as the front. Rachel told People the front of the dress was a bit to razzle dazzle for her, “I like to be a little bit more subtle, and I was like I’m going to try it backwards – and it works!”
So what do you think? Was Rachel using her noggin when she decided to turn her dress around, or was it a flub? Will we revert back to the Kris Kross era and start wearing clothes backwards, or was that just me? I think she looks radiant, and completely understand why she turned the dress around. But, knowing Rachel, it probably would have been gorgeous if she hadn’t flipped it too!

I never watch the Emmy’s primarily because I don’t really care, but I love looking at red carpet pictures. Pretty dresses make me so happy, and right now I’m floating. There were no disaster like Lil’ Mama at the VMAs, and that is the best feeling ever. The people I thought looked the best were America Ferrera and Becki Newton from Ugly Betty, Eva Longoria, Portia de Rossi, and Rebecca Romijn. Who are your faves?

So the VMAs were last night. Britney performed, that was umm… and Chris Brown danced his ass off. Justin called MTV out and told the to play more music videos, Rihanna performed “Shut Up and Drive” with Fall Out Boy (except they cut it short), Gym Class Heroes won ‘Best New Artist’ (party!), Alicia Keys was outstanding, and Lil’ Mama wore a Halloween costume.
There is so much to talk about, but I doubt anyone has the time to go through it all. Entertainment-wise, I think they tried to do too much so you didn’t get to enjoy most of the performances. Now, if we’re talking about fashion, there were definitely hits and misses. My favorite look all night was Jennifer Garner. She looked radiant, and I couldn’t get enough. On the other hand, Lil’ Mama’s Halloween baby costume was outrageous. The mark was in Vegas and she was in Tokyo (no offense to anyone in Tokyo).
For the guys, I’m not sure there was a real miss, but there were definite extremes. On the Rock Star extreme there was Boys Like Girls who went in jeans and a old tee. Then we have mister suave Robin Thicke, who looked very dapper in a black on black suit.
