Part 2 of Manchester Orchestra’s pre-album videos is out. The video is for the song “Shake It Out.” [Spin.com]
I have exciting news about me other bloggers, and prom (sort of), but I’m waiting for pictures. Here’s a teaser…
Sometimes I forget how wonderfully cheeky Lily Allen is. She has this sweet soft voice but is complaining about a guy never making her scream in the new video for “It’s Not Fair.” Not to mention, she’s looks amazing in that Cher-inspired outfit!
A video for Manchester Orchestra’s new song, “The Only One” debuted today on AbsolutePunk.net. This is one video out of 11 created by the Emmy Award winning directing team of Clay Lipsky and Jason Bognacki of Destroy Rock Music Inc. to promote the bands upcoming album Mean Everything to Nothing (release date April 21st). There is a video created for each song on the upcoming album, and each video will premiere on a different website.
Lipsky describes their vision as being “a cinematic collage of decaying film and lost memories intertwined with a loose narrative about a young woman on a surreal journey to find what she is missing.” That is slightly beyond my lay, film viewer head, but I still think the video is chase scene video parallels the urgency in the song well, and I can definitely relate to the feeling of trying to escape a psychiatric institute; however I in my case the psych institute is more metaphorical than literal.
The Manchester Orchestra guys worked with Lipsky and Bognacky for the “I Can Barely Breathe” video from their first album I’m Like a Virgin Losing a Child and the directors were excited to undertake such a large project for the band. “When ‘I Can Barely Breathe’ was well received, it helped create an open creative dialogue about our ideas and capabilities. When approached with the opportunity to interpret the entire album, we jumped at the chance,” said Destroy Rock Music.
p.s. Did I mention this song is just as fantastic as “I’ve Got Friends.” I’m so excited about this album!
I’ve been up since 5:15 AM, I have three finals today and will be on campus until 8 PM. I’m completely exhausted, and have just found out silly Billy Corgan is trying to make a statement again by informing the world that Smashing Pumpkins are no longer going to put out full albums only singles because “they drag over the two singles, and skip over the rest [of the cd].”
Oh, the humanity Corgan, maybe people would listen to full albums if every song was as good as the singles. Don’t get my parents started about how “every song was great on vinyls because you couldn’t just skip over a song. You had to listen to it all, so artists really cared.”
I also found out that Gareth Pugh is doing a menswear line to be shown in January. Now guys will know the pleasure of dressing like aliens and horror creatures. I love you Pugh!
Last but not leats, I have had the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus song, “You Better Pray”, stuck in my head for at lesat 2 weeks, making me over-eager to see the guys tossing their well-coiffed heads all over my computer screen in the video:
I’m feeling infinitely busy lately. I have to so many big end-of-semester projects on top of getting into really bad car accidents— I’m ok— and fixing up PRC— did you notice? The only time I really seem to have to myself is when I’m driving and even sometimes that doesn’t end up how I wanted.
So, before I get to the point, here’s the deal with the new website layout. I’ve decided to make the homepage just a landing pad, so I won’t have to double post anymore. I also combined the entertainment and fashion blogs onto this website because I didn’t post on the entertainment blog as often as I thought I would.
Now, everything PRC can be read hear, and if I ever decide to expand the PRC brand(?) I’ll be sure to tell you.
Now back to my car accident. I think I totaled my car because the road was slick due to rain. We have a rental car and that car has built in Sirius Satellite radio, a luxury I’ve missed since my dad took his Sirius radio back. So while I was listening to my favorite station, Alt Nation 21, I heard two songs I’m practically in love with.
The first song is “Spiralling” by Keane. The beat is really refreshing during these dreary winter days, and that “OH!” is so old school, I can’t help but be stoked.
The other song is “You Don’t Know Me” by Ben Folds featuring Regina Spektor. I just like the lyrical volley between Ben and Regina. It’s so fun!
I’m not really overly stoked about either video, but I love the songs!
What do you think of the changes I made to PRC? Should I go back to the old website? What other things would you like to see?
