Oh Please Don’t Ride Up LBD!

Chelsea Rae Simmons | Events,Fashion,My Style,Pink Rock Candy | Thursday, 04 June 2009
Pink Rock Candy, Chelsea Rae

I did actually end up going to the Lord & Taylor/ Elite Model Management event yesterday. I drug Miss Secretista with me as not to be awkwardly alone at an even full of people who didn’t look twice at me.

The Big Kahuna skate boards the models designed were cool. Unfortunately, I’m not much for boarding— skate, surf or otherwise.

The band that played, PT Walkley, was surprisingly good, and I saw Coco Rocha who looked great with her new brunette coif.

Aside from that, I spent most of the time hoping my tush wasn’t showing due to the super short black mini-dress I bought from the LF Store by my house and avoiding the glaring eyes of mean girls who probably were hoping my LBD would ride up. The event did, however, give e a chance to wear the Ceasar’s Design ‘Gold Vermeil Flower Ring’ I won from Diva in a Carry On. Thanks you, thank you, Dana!

Lord & Taylor 'Catch The Wave' Event Invite Hey everyone in NYC!

Tomorrow night I’m going to the Lord & Taylor ‘Catch the Wave’ event where they’ll launch the Kahuna Longboards designed by some Elite models. Technically this is a closed event, but if you spend $250— the cost a one great cocktail outfit— at the 5th Ave. location, sometime today or tomorrow, you’ll get a special VIP invite to schmooze with models.

I hope to see some of you there!

The Sweet Side of Fashion

Chelsea Rae Simmons | Events,Fashion | Tuesday, 28 April 2009
Pink Rock Candy, Rebecca Taylor cupcakes at Billy's Bakery in NYC

Cupcakes and fashion may seem like an unlikely pairing, but most fashionista’s dirty little secret is there unfathomable sweet tooth. I happen to know Nina Garcia has a penchant for cheapy candy, and my homie Secretista, who recently rode the escalator next to Ms. Garcia, is a fiend for The Cup— CAKE that is. So, when I received word that Rebecca Taylor teamed up with NYC based sweet shop, Billy’s Bakery for Mother’s Day, no questions were asked.

The two confections Taylor designed are sweetly named Vanilla Twinkle and Mocha Meow and were inspired by two looks from the Spring/Summer 2009 Rebecca Taylor collection. Apparently, the “Vanilla Twinkle [...is] made of Billy’s yellow daisy cupcake topped with blue vanilla buttercream and a sprinkle of white crystal sugar and silver dots, which imitates the blue dot chiffon dress from the runway. Mocha Meow was created from Billy’s chocolate cupcake and special Mocha-flavored buttercream with dark and light chocolate sprinkles, resembling the leopard printed pieces in the collection.”

Anytime the words buttercream and crystal sugar are put in the same sentence, I’m totally there. If only the cupcake design-inspiring dresses were given away as a free gift with every purchase, I’d be camped out at Billy’s Bakery now to secure my spot for their May 1st release. Too bad $2.75/cupcake does not a Rebecca Taylor dress make.

Billy’s Bakery is located at 184 9th Avenue New York, NY 10011.

Ban.do at Bendel’s

Pink Rock Candy, Ban.do at Henri Bendel

Its been almost 4 months since I first learned of Ban.do, but it still happens to be my favorite feathered hair-bobble retailer. So, when I received an email saying they were going to have a trunk show at Henri Bendel in December, I couldn’t help but be overly-excited for them. Sure, I’m not one of the awesome girls doing the creating, but when something good happens to someone/thing I like, excitement and pride in their success follow.

The Bendel’s trunk show will be from December 4th through December 6th and Jen & Jamie promise to have tons of new goodies to purchase.

Not only will there be a trunk show, also meaning a great opportunity to meet the Ban.do girls, the girls have decided to redesign their website to make it cuter and more functional for all the hair accessory lovers out there.

In all their excitement, the Ban.do team is taking 15% off everything. Meaning, that $130 flower headband you wanted is only $110 and the $75 feather clip is only $64. Click your way to the website if you’re interested because the sale ends at the end of this month.

Show Your Love for Nigel and Seals

Chelsea Rae Simmons | Art,Events,News | Friday, 04 July 2008

Everyday hundreds of fashion bloggers get the same press releases. These press releases either get the green light and end up on their individual blogs or the get trashed. Yesterday, I received a press release concerning the über-talented Nigel Barker and a photo exhibit he is having called ‘A Sealed Fate?’. Obviously, since everyone love Nigel, he’s probably the only reason I’ve watched every episode of ANTM, everyone’s talking about the exhibit. So, In case you’ve missed it, here are the details.

Pink Rock Candy, Nigel Barker, A Sealed Fate Flyer

Mr. Barker traveled to eastern Canada with The Humane Society of The United States, and took pictures and filmed baby harp seals— now do you get ‘A SEALed Fate’? Not only are harp seals ultra cute and probably really cuddly and adorable making them prime objects to photograph, but people kill them, using clubs or guns, for their fur and leave the rest of the carcass, making those people violent, inconsiderate, and wasteful (and technically murders, but I eat meat so I can’t really talk).

The exhibit will run from Friday, July 25th, 2008, to Sunday, July 27th, 2008, and Nigel will be hosting one-hour tours at 2PM, 3PM, and 4PM each day at 401 West Street in NYC. The exhibit is open to the public, but make sure to RSVP with the date and time you intend on coming.

I think my sister, my mom and I are going to try to make it to the 2 PM or 3 PM tour on Sunday, July 27th, so if you’re in NYC make sure to join us!

p.s HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
