After seeing last season’s severe sailor inspired Emporio Armani Underwear ads with David and Victoria Beckham, I’m surprised at how soft and pretty Megan Fox looks, not so say she isn’t pretty, because she’s gorgeous.

Considering Fox’s “I don’t give a shit” attitude, one would think these ads would be a bit spicier, but I’m glad Armani didn’t sink to American Apparel level just because they scored a young, hip star. Bravo!

I’d like to think that jeans are sexy because they can give your tush the perfect curve, and if they have a bit of spandex will also give you a bit of lift and tighten. A good pair of jeans can be like plastic surgery without the anesthesia, cutting, or 4-6 week recovery time.

However, this positive thinking did begin while looking at little Miss Georgia of Famous-Last-Name— she’s the daughter of the statuesque Jerry Hall and his rock majesty, Mick Jagger. Perhaps, my eyes are all starry and my heads in an optimistic fog from staring at celebuspawn because I don’t know if normal girls can actually look jean ad amazing?

I hope we can. I know advertisements are meant to make you believe you’ll look that good wearing said clothes, but I’m going to believe in the power of optimism. Every time I put on a pair of jeans, I’m going to act like I look as hot as Georgia. Mind of matter, baby. “Spotted. Robomodels Stam, Trentini, & Lily D parading up and down the Upper East Side in random Dolce & Gabbana wears, while photog SK snaps away. Where’s little Gem, ladies?” If anyone asks, that’s what the Dolce & Gabbana ad feels like. They’re all about the android socialites who prance around Manhattan and feign indifference or anger when the paps are intent on getting their picture. The thing the paparazzi and the socialites don’t realize, no one truly cares! But what about the ads?

The clothes are gorgeous and the Steve Klein’s photography is wonderful as usual. I like how magical the city looks at night, though I’m not sure it was actually photographed at night— it could just be the wonders of photo retouching. I also like how spectral the models look, as if they’re just floating through their lives with no ambition or raison d’être.

I’m smitten with the wintery ball gowns in the photo above, they make me wish I had a big party to attend on New Years Eve. Also, I’m not a big tweed fan, but the tweed suit, oxford pumps, and newsboy cap outfit Lily D has on looks very chic— however, I think it only looks great on her because she’s a tall skinny model. I also happen to love the plaid, slightly cropped skinnies and plaid shirt combo. The clashing plaids are a bit off-putting, but I like things that are a tad kooky.

On the other hand, I’m not quite sure if I like the Stam, Lily D, Caroline Trentini match-up more than I like the Stam, Lily D, Gemma grouping in the Spring Summer ’08 ads.

I don’t usually talk about men’s fashion on PRC, but today I have to. Why? Because since I heard Josh Hartnett was going to be in the new Emporio Armani ‘Diamonds for Men’ fragrance ad, I’ve been stoked— stoked is actually an understatement. However, now that I’ve seen the ad, thanks to Fashionista.com, I’m sort of underwhelmed (said in my best Michael Kors impression).

I’m not disappointed because Josh Hartnett is in the ad. I think he’s gorgeous, at least in my eyes. He has this slightly annoying, yet still endearing hipster grizzly-mountain-man thing going on all the time. His facial hair gets a bit patchy and his eyebrows are unkept, but I learned to deal with that years ago— I’ll even go as far as saying I appreciate the quirky wildness of it all. The culmination of those things, and much more, make him a lovable, awkward mess, but in the Armani ads, he’s none of that.

Though considering the queen of bling, Beyonce, was (is?) the face of Armani’s ‘Diamonds for Women’ fragrance, I understand why they had to doll Josh up a bit, but is this too much?

I know I can’t expect him to be rocking a ratty hat and geek-chic glasses in this ad, but I feel like he’s too clean cut for his own good.

This brings me to my question: What are the the trends/styles you find most attractive on guys? Do you like them Thom Browne or Tom Ford, Soulja Boi or Fall Out Boy, or something totally different?

p.s. The girl on the right keeps distracting me with her “OH EM GEE!” face!

Remember when you were trying to figure out why Mikhail Gorbachev was in the Louis Vuitton ads, but in all actuality, you didn’t really care enough to go look it up, or was that just me? Well, I’ve finally been inspired to figure out why there are a bunch of ultra famous figures in the LV luggage ads. Apparently, it’s part of their “Core Values” campaign photographed by Annie Leibovitz. What was my inspiration to make such a discovery? Keith Richards!

The aging Stone and his axe are the newest models for the LV campaign, and I have to say it’s really hot. I don’t know what it is about old, drug worn rockers but I always seem to be drawn to them in a strange probably not so PC way. Plus, his eyes are sort of haunting, like you want to know what fantasias he’s seen during his life time— I’m sure they’re be surreal.

For some reason I’m really excited to see these ads in magazines. I think I’d rather look at Richard’s weathered face than see another 10 tons of ads splattered with the perfection that is Kate Moss (as much as I do love her).

I’ve thought Juliette Binoche, was absolutely gorgeous since she made Johnny Depp’s character, Roux, swoon a bit in Chocolat (only I was busy swooning over Johnny). Not to mention, Chocolat is one of my all-time favorite movies. Juliette is the epitome of classic French beauty and effortless chic. That’s why I wasn’t at all surprised when I found out Ms. Binoche will reprise her role as an ambassador for Lancôme.

In 1995 Juliette was the face of Lancôme’s Poême fragrance, but now she will be the face of the Lancôme Rénergie franchise. Her campaign will come out later this year and will be photographed by Nick Knight. Considering the youthful glow Juliette seems to always have, the campaign is bound to make even the youngest girls wish the had a wrinkle or two to smooth.

The ad is obviously featuring the fantastic horizontal-heeled shoes Marc sent down the runway in September, but many are amused by the obvious satirical element of the shot. VB in an over-sized Marc Jacobs bag, as if to say she, like the shoes she’s wearing, is a product. Though many may scoff at the person as a product innuendo, the truth is to be successful at anything you have to be able to market yourself like one would market a product, and Victoria is definitely a pro at that. She’s molded and polished her image so well, she’s practically a robot, and she has successfully turned her and her hunk of a soccer-star husband into a brand, and I for one have to praise her for that.

When it comes to the ad campaign, I can’t wait to see what else MJ and VB have in store for us. I think this may be one of those love it or hate it deals— so what do you think thus far? Do you love it or hate it?

The ad campaign for Burberry’s Spring 2008 collection is out, and I think its the best Burberry campaign I’ve seen in a while. Not only is Agyness Deyn the face of Burberry, but they seem to have changed their whole direction with this campaign. Instead of their normal edgy black-and-white shots, they opted to use, gasp, color! I know it’s giant. Aggy obviously brings that cool grunge thing to the table, but she isn’t the only one who proves they can rock.

Also in the campaign, shot by Mario Testino, are models Lily Donaldson, Edie Campbell, Alice Gibb and Laura Fraser, Courtney Love’s guitarist Liam Wade, and Stings daughter Coco Sumner.

There is also a great behind-the-scenes video to go along with the campaign on the Burberry website. You can see the girls successfully jump toward the camera a billion times in 5 inch platforms without break their ankles and then swoon over Lily’s awe-inspiring hair flicks. By the way, does anyone know the name of the song/band that is in the video?

Now that it is officially 2008, it’s time to get back down to business. First of all, I hope everyone had a relaxing holiday and got the much some need rest (or was that just me?). To celebrate 2008 I think I will bring you a couple of my favorite infatuations for the new year, M.I.A. and Marc Jacobs. Marc Jacobs because his Spring/Summer 2008 collections really riled the fashion industry up, and M.I.A. because I just bought Kala, and there are a couple of songs that are so boss (“Come Around” anyone?). In light of all of this I give you the Marc by Marc Jacobs S/S ’08 ad campaign photographed by Juergen Teller.

I have mixed feelings about the campaign. The look isn’t really M.I.A., especially in the first shot, and she looks as if she has bathed in a while. I feel like Marc is still on the “stop taking life so seriously” trip, and M.I.A. is the perfect person to represent that. Perhaps, I’m giving MJ too much credit, and this is just a terribly weird, greasy ad campaign.

How do you feel about the MJ/M.I.A. combo, and what do you think of the ad campaign?
