Pink Rock Candy, Chelsea Rae Simmons, How to Cuff Your Pants

Yesterday, My day started off with a coworker saying, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you wear pants!” As a matter of fact, she hadn’t. I usually come to the office in a dress/skirt and five inch heels. My alternative outfit is a slightly shorter dress/skirt and flats. However, yesterday I wore pants—cuffed khakis to be exact.

I recently read an article in Real Simple called “How to Cuff Your Jeans Stylishly”, and in a light bulb moment, I realized, I should wear cuffed pants and super high heels to work.

Cuffing or rolling one’s pant leg doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult, but there is a real skill to it. Real Simple broke the process down into two easy steps:

Step 1: Grasp a bottom hem and fold it vertically so there’s a ½-inch tuck in front.

Step 2: Hold the tuck in place while you roll up the hem by about two inches twice. Repeat with the other leg.”

My pants were a little (read: a lot) more than bootcut, making my tuck much larger, but the end result was just as cute.

As for my pant wearing, I may break them out from time to time, but I will never forsake my flirty dresses and sassy skirts.

What to Wear: When You Have Nothing to Wear

Chelsea Rae Simmons | Fashion,Style How-to,What I Would Wear | Wednesday, 31 March 2010
Pink Rock Candy, What to wear when you have nothing to wear

You’ve an exciting day ahead of you. You’re going to a party, a concert, a date, wherever. You throw open your closet doors to discover you have absolutely nothing to wear, or at least, you think you don’t though your closet is beyond stuffed with sewn treasures.

You could have all the clothes in the world, but when you’re anxious about something, no outfit will ever seem perfect at the moment. The trick is to plan the perfect outfits when not intoxicated with the excitement of the day to come. After watching more than my fair share of What Not to Wear, I’ve decided, a girl needs to have three outfits on standby for the IHaveNothingToWear days— a LBD, a casual outfit and a wild card outfit

Style How-To: Cream Motorcylce Jacket

Chelsea Rae Simmons | Fashion,Style How-to | Friday, 28 August 2009

Yesterday, I received a comment from a reader, Jemi, asking how to wear a recent purchase. She just bought a cream motorcycle jacket, but has no idea how to pair it. She also purchased a gray headband, but isn’t sure if it’s appropriate to wear with a short haircut.

Pink Rock Candy, What to wear with a cream motorcycle jacket

First of all, I’m completely jealous of her cream moto jacket, I’m still on the hunt for a cute leather moto jacket, preferably in brown, but the thought of cream is starting to sound really good to me. If I were the proud owner of such a cute find, I’d would basically wear it with anything, making sure not to go over-the-top biker chick because that isn’t my style.

Here are two different pairings for such a fantastic type of jacket: 1) For a casual day look you could wear it with a basic gray pair of skinny/bootcut jeans and a jewel tone embellished tank to off-set the light jacket. Try a royal purple or dark teal color. 2) For a bit more drama, you could wear a flirty, night-on-the-town dress and sky-high heels. The juxtaposition of a tougher looking motorcycle jacket with an über-girlie dress is just so perfect.

As for the gray headband, I think anyone can wear a headband even if they’re bald. As with most clothing items, if you believe you look good, then you do look good, no one will say anything.

p.s. Cream and gray are neutrals so you can pretty much go wild with color if you want!
