Peace, Love, and Orchids

Pink Rock Candy, Chelsea Rae

Spring has officially sprung and it has been effecting me in the funniest ways. Not only have I decided I want lots and lots of Native American tribal things: t-shirts, feather headbands (if I make a more Pocahontas-y one I put it up), and a dreamcatcher (which I’m currently making), but I am really honing my hippie look-a-like skills and starting to appreciate nature a whole lot more. I sort of like feeling as if I should have been an extra in Across the Universe and maybe had Jim Sturgess fall madly in love with me, but that’s just a pipe dream.

In the picture I’m wearing an entire outfit I bought from H&M, except at separate times (I didn’t realize that until now). That’s the Art By: Anna Frederiksson tee I swiped from some poor unsuspected shopper. Everything was less than $20 a piece, except for the shoes that are Nine West, but I can’t remember how much they were.

My entire family kept calling me a flower child yesterday. I just bought a couple more sparkly headbands from the Sally Beauty Supply store by my house (they’re not in this picture), one of them is bright blue and as I walked through the mall yesterday, I was complemented-ish on it and my modern day 60s outfit twice. The first time, was by the sales guy at this store called Zumiez or something. I’d never gone in the store before, but my sister is going on a cruise and they had sporty swimsuits she wanted to look at. The guy was sort of awkward and probably hitting on Blythe/me/both of us, but we had a nice conversation about headbands, mostly about how he liked mine and how the guys in Paramore like to rock the sexy sweatband.

After that we went to H&M and passed this model booth thingy. They’ve asked me 4 separate times to sign up to be a model, but after finding out I’d have to pay I decided it was stupid. I’m not going to pay anyone to take a picture of me, that’s what Spencer and Heidi do! Anyway, one of the guys at the booth starts screaming “Peace and Love, man. Peace and Love!” as I walked by, and I think I gave him a dirty look, but it was just sort of obnoxious.

After the mall, my sister and I went to a super market and bought pretty pretty orchids. I have no idea how to take care of orchids, and I hope I don’t kill them. I decided to take some artsy-ish pictures of them. You can seen them after the jump! (more…)

Project Runway’s Bitten Outfit

Victorya Hong - Bitten Outfit: Dress & Vest, Project Runway Season 4Who watched Project Runway on Wednesday night? ME!

Who only gained 5 points on their stupid ProRun fantasy team? Unfortunately, that was me too.

And, who was absolutely in love with the dress Victorya created? That was Sarah Jessica Parker, well, and me of course.

The dress totally fit the style of the Bitten line, and I loved the plaid, racerback vest. It’s something I could and would wear to school, out to dinner, or where ever I needed to go. I heard that the dress will cost $19.98 and will be offered in black and burgundy. The vest will only cost $14.98 and will come in black and gray. I also heard the pieces will be sold in Steve & Barry’s around the US as early as today.

The last bit of info makes me worried because today is Black Friday, and I wouldn’t leave the house to go shopping even if someone was giving me a million dollars. If it did come out today, that means it might be gone by the time I try to buy it. My only hope is the Steve & Barry’s around me is faulty, as usual, and don’t put out the items in time. If any brave soul happened to go out to Steve & Barry’s today, did you see the dress and vest? Just wondering.

Addicted to Lulu’s

Chelsea Rae | Dresses, Shirts, Skirts, Vests | Monday, 18 June 2007

Its blazing hot outside, I’m out of school and my pool is totally clean and just warm enough to swim in without getting frost bite or hypothermia, but what am I doing? I’m perusing through the many pages of ultra swank clothes on Lulu’s Fashion Lounge. If you haven’t heard of Lulu’s then you have been missing out, and thank goodness I’m here to inform you.

The first time I went on Lulu’s Fashion Lounge felt like the time I went to the Louvre in Paris. There was so much greatness I was overwhelmed. And, just like when I was at the Louvre I ended up looking at a few choice items then skedaddling because I knew it would take me forever to look at everything. There is that little phrase people like to use when rationalizing super expensive purchases, “quality over quantity”, but at Lulu’s you can get both quality and quantity. Most of their clothes are under $100 and are so cute I can’t even explain. They also get tons of new stuff in all the time. The only downside is they don’t usually restock the same items, so when something is sold out its sold out forever. That just means you should snap up that extra adorable dress you saw quickly because chances are others think the dress is just as awesome.

To check out my fave picks under $50 from Lulu’s Fashion Lounge just click on the price! Since we love you guys so much, we’ve arranged for you to get a 15% discount off your entire purchase until August 1st! All you have to do is type in pinkrockcandy at checkout.

Be a Sexy Secretay

Chelsea Rae | Shirts, Vests | Wednesday, 27 December 2006

Vests are the perfect addition to anyone’s wardrobe. And no, we’re not talking about grandma’s “oh-so-sexy” holiday sweater vests. New vests are a far cry from this atrocious image. They are sleek, structured, and hot, hot, hot. They can be worn with a shirt under for a great winter feel or vamp it up by wearing it sans chemise to show a little cleavage when spring and summer roll back around. They also go great with a casual skinny jean or a sleek pencil skirt. Pair it with the perfect pair of platform peep-toes and you’ll be the sexiest of the naughty librarians.
