The Colors of Spring

Pantone Inc. is pretty much the be all end all of color. Each season they pick ten colors that become the “it” colors of the season. Everything from cars to socks will be produced in those colors, and most people don’t even realize the colors they love each season are selected for them at the Pantone headquarters.
This is what Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®, had said “The spring ‘08 color palette perfectly reflects the cheerfulness of the season…Stabilizing neutrals combined with pops of brighter colors to create unique, distinctive looks are the basis for a great spring and summer wardrobe.” So what are the neutrals and the pops of bright they picked? Oddly, most of the neutrals they picked for Spring had food names like: Golden Olive, Croissant, Cantaloupe, and Daiquiri Green, the non-food product colors are Silver Grey and Pink Mist. To make sure Spring 2008’s color pallet was too banal they threw in some great vibrant colors like: Spring Crocus, Rococco Red, Freesia, and Snorkel Blue.
Though I know how abundant light, neutral colors were at the Spring 2008 runway shows, I can’t help but love the bright colors much more. What colors will you be sticking to for Spring/Summer 2008?
